An obi in iaido is more than just a belt.
It holds the saya, stabilises the silhouette and creates the basis for every clean drawing movement.

The Iaido Obi KUROI was developed specifically for the requirements of Iaido. It combines a secure hold with comfortable wear – in a deliberately understated, classic design.

Material & function

Made from durable rayon fabric, the obi offers a balanced combination of stability and flexibility.

The material is dimensionally stable without being stiff. It ensures that the saya and iaitō can be carried safely while remaining comfortable on the body – even during longer training sessions.

Fit & workmanship

With a width of 6.5 cm and a length of approx. 390 cm, the Iaido Obi KUROI enables a secure and traditional binding.

The continuous reinforcement in the main area ensures a stable hold during repeated pulling movements. At the same time, the unreinforced ends on both sides – each approx. 50 cm – remain flexible enough to facilitate tying and allow for individual adjustment.

The result is a clear, calm line – both functional and aesthetic.

Use in training

The Iaido Obi KUROI is suitable for regular training as well as for courses and formal occasions.

It is aimed at Iaidoka who value reliable function, clean execution and a restrained appearance. An Obi that does not take centre stage – but supports movement.
