Description
Bogu 1.0 bu TEZASHI
Hand-sewn kendo armour of this calibre is instantly recognisable.
Precisely placed stitches, perfectly aligned lines and exceptional symmetry in the seams testify to the experience and patience of the craftsmen who made it.
The Tezashi Bogu 1.0 Bu is one of the very best traditional kendo armour sets available. It combines the highest quality craftsmanship with exceptional protection and a level of comfort that only hand-sewn bogu can offer.
Armour for kendoka who seek the best – and want to use it every day in training.
Traditional craftsmanship – Tezashi
This armour is sewn entirely by hand (Tezashi).
Not only are the individual components assembled by hand, but the futon is also made entirely by hand. Each stitch is set individually and precisely aligned.
The seam spacing is 1.0 bu, which corresponds to approximately 3.0 mm. This particularly close stitching requires enormous precision and time – but it ensures an exceptionally even padding structure and a very high level of protection.
What does Tezashi mean?
In a Tezashi bogu, every single seam is sewn by hand.
This creates a flexible yet stable padding structure that adapts more and more to the wearer's body over time. Hand-sewn armour thus develops an individual fit and is exceptionally comfortable to wear.
The production of such armour requires a great deal of experience and patience – and makes each Bogu a truly unique piece.
Why 1.0 bu?
The traditional unit of measurement "bu" describes the distance between the quilted seams of kendo armour.
With 1.0 bu (approx. 3 mm), this armour is one of the most densely quilted tezashi bogu. The close quilting ensures a very compact padding structure and offers a high level of protection while maintaining good mobility.
This results in particularly effective cushioning, especially in the men and kote.
Materials – Japanese top quality
Only high-quality materials from Japan are used for this armour.
The futon is made of 100% Japanese cotton in heavy #10,000 quality, traditionally hand-dyed with indigo.
The reinforcements are made of genuine deerskin, also hand-dyed in indigo. This leather is particularly durable and is one of the classic materials used in high-quality kendo armour.
The combination of dense cotton fabric and deerskin ensures an exceptionally durable construction.
Construction & protection
The elaborately crafted futon of the men and kote form the basis for the high protective effect of this armour.
Precise hand-stitching creates a compact padding structure that reliably absorbs shocks while flexibly adapting to the body.
The gunome design of the men and tare combines traditional aesthetics with functional construction.
