The Men GOUKEN 剛剣 1.5bu has been developed for intensive kendo training and combines maximum protection, high durability and comfortable wear with a classic look. The name GOUKEN (剛剣) – ‘hard sword’ – stands for exactly what this men delivers: uncompromising stability and reliability in daily keiko.
The futon is made from 100% Japanese cotton in a sturdy #8,800 count and is traditionally hand-dyed with indigo. The tight stitching of 1.5bu ensures a firm, stable padding structure that effectively absorbs blows whilst allowing for precise feedback during training.
A particular highlight is the hybrid men made from titanium and aluminium. Whilst aluminium ensures a pleasantly low weight, the four upper titanium struts in the striking area provide maximum stability precisely where the shinai strikes most frequently. This is complemented by an additional 2 mm reinforcement in the datotsu area, which further enhances protection.
High-quality reinforcements made from indigo-dyed Japanese deerskin, combined with machine-sewn futon and meticulous handcrafting during assembly and application, make this men a durable companion with character.
